Ruth
The Loyal Daughter
Key Scripture
“Where thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge.”
— Ruth 1:16

✦Life Story
Ruth was a Moabitess — a foreigner from a nation despised by Israel — who married into a Jewish family. When her husband died and her mother-in-law Naomi encouraged her to return home, Ruth refused with words that have echoed through the centuries: wherever you go, I will go. She followed Naomi to a land and a God she had only known through family, gleaned grain from the edges of fields as the law permitted for the poor, and caught the eye of a righteous man named Boaz. Her loyalty, humility, and faithfulness transformed her from a foreign widow into the great-grandmother of King David — and an ancestor of Jesus. Love in action produces legacy.
