Esther — Bible Hero Card

Life Story

Esther was a Jewish orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai in a foreign land. When the Persian king held a beauty contest for a new queen, she was selected — and kept her Jewish identity secret. When a royal decree went out to annihilate every Jewish person in the empire, Mordecai urged Esther to approach the king and plead for her people — an act punishable by death without the king's invitation. For such a time as this. She fasted three days, put on her royal robes, and walked into the king's court unannounced. The king extended his scepter. The plot was reversed. The persecutors were stopped. Esther's courage saved a nation.

Famous Scriptures

Esther 4:14

For Such a Time as This

Purpose & Courage

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Esther 4:16

If I Perish, I Perish

Courage & Surrender

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Proverbs 31:25

Clothed with Strength

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

Daily Challenge

You are where you are for a reason — step into the room God has placed you in with the courage Esther had, and speak what needs to be said.

Prayer

Lord, give me the courage of Esther to act at the appointed moment. When I am tempted to stay silent to protect myself, remind me that I may have been placed here for exactly this. Amen.

📖 How This Story Speaks Today

Esther demonstrates the courage that faith produces — she was afraid, she fasted, and then she acted. That is what grace-fueled courage looks like.
