Peter
The Rock
Key Scripture
“Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
— Matthew 16:18
✦Life Story
Peter was a fisherman — loud, impulsive, and wonderfully imperfect. He walked on water and sank. He declared Jesus the Son of God and then denied Him three times on the night of the crucifixion, weeping bitterly. Yet after the resurrection, Jesus restored him with three questions mirroring his three denials, and commissioned him: Feed my sheep. On the Day of Pentecost, the man who had been too afraid to admit knowing Jesus in front of a servant girl preached to thousands. He was arrested, beaten, imprisoned, and ultimately crucified upside down for his faith. Peter's story is a relentless invitation to failure and restoration — the grace that picks you up and sends you back out.
