Gideon
The Unlikely Warrior
Key Scripture
“By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you.”
— Judges 7:7
✦Life Story
Gideon was hiding wheat in a winepress when an angel greeted him as a mighty warrior. He was the youngest in a minor family of a minor tribe — the smallest man for a big assignment. He asked God for signs, and God graciously gave them. Then God told him to reduce his army from 32,000 to 300 — because God wanted Israel to know that the victory was His, not theirs. Three hundred men with torches, clay pots, and trumpets routed an army of 135,000. Gideon's story is God's repeated pattern: He does not look for the strongest candidate; He looks for the available one who is willing to trust Him more than the odds. The weakness is the point.

Daily Challenge
Stop disqualifying yourself — if God called Gideon a mighty warrior while he was hiding, He sees something in you too.
Prayer
Lord who chose Gideon, I am tempted to count my limitations more than Your power. Help me to trust You with my three hundred — the small, insufficient thing I have — and watch You work. Amen.
📖 How This Story Speaks Today
Gideon's story proves that courage is not the absence of doubt; it is taking the step while doubting and watching God provide the victory.
