Samuel — Bible Hero Card

Life Story

Samuel was dedicated to God before he was born by a desperate, praying mother named Hannah. He grew up in the tabernacle under Eli the priest, and as a child heard God call his name in the night — three times before Eli understood what was happening and told him to answer. Samuel said, Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening — and God spoke. He became the last judge of Israel, the first of the great prophets, and the man who anointed Israel's first two kings. When Israel demanded a king despite God's warning, Samuel faithfully delivered both the rebuke and the coronation. His life from birth to death was marked by one disposition: ears and heart open to God's voice above every other.

Daily Challenge

Slow down enough to listen today — like Samuel, the most important conversations are not the ones you initiate but the ones you receive.

Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening. Help me to cultivate the quietness and attentiveness that Samuel had — to hear Your voice above the noise and to act on what You say. Amen.
