Daniel
The Lion-Hearted
Key Scripture
“My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths.”
— Daniel 6:22

✦Life Story
Daniel was taken captive as a teenager from Jerusalem to Babylon, the most powerful empire on earth. Rather than compromise, he refused the king's food, interpreted dreams that baffled every wise man in the empire, and rose to become one of the top three rulers of Babylon under three different emperors. When a law was passed specifically designed to make his prayer illegal, he opened his window toward Jerusalem and prayed three times a day anyway — in full view of his enemies. He was thrown into the lions' den and walked out the next morning untouched. His integrity under pressure spans sixty-six years and is one of the most consistent character records in all of Scripture.

Not Our Righteousness

Trust in the LORD
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Daily Challenge
When the pressure mounts to compromise what you know is right, open the window and pray anyway — like Daniel, your obedience in private will produce your protection in public.
Prayer
God who shut the lions' mouths, give me the courage to pray when prayer is unpopular and to live with integrity when no one is watching. My public life is only as strong as my private walk with You. Amen.
📖 How This Story Speaks Today
Daniel is the prototype of courage and wisdom united — he did not separate his faith from his public life, and God made him unshakeable.
